The Robert C. Seamans is a 2 masted sailing research vessel operated by SEA and stationed primarily in the Central Pacific. These photos were taken while aboard the Seamans during a 5 week research expedition from Honolulu to the equator and back, a total distance of 3000 nautical miles. The vessel made land at 3 islands during the course of the trip, Kiritimati, Palmyra Atoll, and Fanning Island, but most of the trip took place at sea, occasionally spending up to 14 days at sea without seeing land.
